About FC Golborne
Founded in May 2024, FC Golborne is an open-age grassroots football club built for the community, by the community. Based in the heart of Golborne and playing our home fixtures at Legh Street Playing Fields, the club was created to provide a competitive, welcoming and ambitious environment for players of all abilities.
What started as one team quickly became something much bigger. FC Golborne now proudly operates multiple adult sides across Saturday and Sunday football, with plans continuing to grow both on and off the pitch. From league football to cup finals, the club has already made a huge impact in a short space of time — but results are only part of the story.
At FCG, we believe grassroots football should be organised properly, run transparently and built around commitment, respect and community spirit. Everyone involved with the club — players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and supporters — plays a part in pushing the club forward.
Our identity is deeply connected to the town of Golborne, reflected in our badge and colours, inspired by the area's mining and textile heritage. Whether it’s on a cold Tuesday night training session, a chaotic Sunday morning at Legh Street, or a cup final under the lights, the club represents passion, togetherness and pride in wearing the badge.
As a club, we continue to invest in improving standards behind the scenes too — from better communication and organisation through our new club systems, to creating a stronger long-term structure for players and teams at every level.
FC Golborne is more than just a football club. It’s a project, a community, and a club built with no fear.
